03/09/2023 -  News from Copperhead

Hello everybody! Just wanted to drop you an email and give you an update on things.
as you already probably know, we've had a couple of neighbors that have raised major concerns about us and they have contacted the County, Newspaper and the Army Corp of Engineers about our property.
Regarding the County issue - it was alleged we were running a professional track and training facility (which we are not). We have appealed that allegation, and feel confident that will be resolved shortly in our favor. This does NOT prohibit us from riding bikes on the property.
The newspaper article has come and gone, with the news cycle on it lasting about 24 hours. Surprisingly, 99% of the social media response regarding the media coverage was supportive of our side. So that means ended up being a net positive for us.
Lastly is the Army Corp of Engineers, which has been the most difficult aspect of all of this. We have had to hire both attorneys and engineers to help us through this process. We have had lines delineated on the property which shows us where the trails and tracks can be located. Unfortunately, it has affected a little part of MX1, and a large portion of MX3. We are in the process of rerouting MX1, and removing a bunch of dirt/fill from MX3. At the end of all of this, MX1 will actually be better. As for MX3, once we resolve the remediation of that area, we are going to build MX3.1!!! It will be awesome, as we already have an idea of how the course will be laid out.
So, at the end of the day, even though this has cost us substantial time and money, Copperhead will be bigger and better!
As for everyone riding out at Copperhead, please contact me at chadhogston@gmail.com, or 910-232-4418 about the particulars of that. We have a great group of you that enjoy and respect the property, and we'd like to continue to have you out there to ride. So please contact me if you'd like to continue riding out there and I will let you know the plan.
Thanks for your continued support!
